Boss Baby is a 2017 American 3D computer-animated comedy film. Released on April 21, 2017 by Fox 2000 Pictures, the film is directed by Tom McGrath, written by Michael McCullers, and stars Alec Baldwin. The story follows a new nanny who insists that her infant employer is in fact a highly sophisticated baby who has returned to Earth to take control of the family business. The film received mixed reviews, but was a financial success grossing $185 million against its $69 million budget. As the boss of Puppy Pals, Inc., Terri is very demanding and expects everyone to be on time and work their tails off. The office workers and assistants do as she says mostly out of fear, but one day her secretary Kelly goes too far following Terri's order for more data on the dog food she intends to manufacture. Meanwhile, we see that Charlie is upset that his best friend Max has been given a promotion instead of him. After Kelly tells her boss about Max's new job, Terri demands proof of Max's job performance which Kelly cannot produce during the next workday. Max and his family go out for an anniversary dinner to celebrate the birthdays of their parents. While they are gone, Terri sends her assistant Mr. Green to break into Max's house and spy on the baby. While inside, Mr. Green is knocked over by Boss Baby after he uses his stroller to race down the stairs to see what was making so much noise. After seeing Boss Baby for the first time, Mr. Green tells him that he will help keep his secret so long as he helps himself to anything else in the house that catches his eye. When Max returns home, he finds Mr. Green in his room drinking various different drinks. Max attempts to take the opportunity to go over Boss Baby's head to Terri, but is interrupted by Mr. Green who forces himself into parts of the family's closets and finally into the baby's room. Terri has her coworkers design a prototype of her dog food with instructions on how to make it in three flavors for research purposes only. While she is away, she receives an unexpected visit from her estranged father-in-law who appears in her office with a talking baby doll he claims is his grandson William; Billie Bobo whom Terri had given up for adoption when she was pregnant with Charlie when he was just an infant. He tells her that the child has returned to claim his position as head of the company before he can take it back, and that she should stay out of his way as William can make her life a living nightmare. At home, Max tries to take the opportunity to fire Mr. Green, but he manages to woo him with his bottle of spirits and soon both are drinking out of it together. When William comes in from the rain, Mr. Green puts him in a clothes dryer and begins spinning it around for a small test. The next day Charlie comes into work dressed much like Max and makes a grand entrance much like he did earlier in his day much to Max's dismay.
